Hello! As 2024 unfolds, I find myself feeling so inspired to finally take a step in the right direction in regard to my art and my creative outlet. I have been mindlessly but sporadically creating art for as long as I can remember. From doing random sketches in my notebooks in class to painting every couple of weeks when I feel the inspiration hit me. But enough is enough, if I want to improve my art skills and also instill this as a habit, I need consistency.

what am I challenging my creative self to do?

This year, I’ve decided to embark on a journey that will push the boundaries of my creativity – the 2024 Weekly Art Challenge.

I am pledging myself to create one finished piece of art every week throughout the year. The medium? Well, that’s the beauty of this challenge – it’s open to interpretation. From traditional canvas paintings to digital illustrations, from mixed media experiments to unconventional forms of expression, each week promises a new adventure.

Why take on such a commitment, you ask? It’s about embracing the spontaneity of creativity but also nurturing the discipline required for artistic growth. This challenge isn’t just about the finished product; it’s about the process, the evolution, and the lessons learned along the way.

One of the most exciting aspects of this challenge is the opportunity to share my artistic journey with you. Every week, I’ll be documenting my process, triumphs, struggles, and the stories behind each creation. I invite you to join me on this ride, offering insights, suggestions, and perhaps finding inspiration for your own creative ventures.

Art Supplies needed for success:

  • Sketchbook of any size (but the smaller it is, the easier it is to take on the go)
  • Pens (I love ink art and quite frankly, it is the easiest medium for someone always on the move)
  • Small Watercolor Set ( I love travel size anything!)
  • Paintbrushes
  • IPad and Pencil (Procreate to the rescue when traveling)
Here’s to a year of artistry, exploration, and the beautiful chaos of creation!
